Block of the Week- The Odette Quilt- Information Post

Hi, Everyone!  I've decided to run a Block of the Week in the New Year!  To me, there is no better way to start a new year than with a new project :)

I will be hosting a free Block of the Week here on my blog.  I'll be posting two blocks per week for 10 weeks and in the 11th week, I'll give sashing and finishing information.

The Block of the Week will start January 9th.  Here is the schedule that we will follow.

UPDATE: I pushed the QAL back one week from January 2nd to January 9th because I was getting lots of requests to start a little later because people were still waiting on their fabric.

This is a sampler quilt that I'm very fond of!  When designing this quilt, I used Flour Garden by Linzee Kull McCray.  I just adore all of Linzee's collections and this one is no different!  It's got the most gorgeous colors and I love how they look in the Odette Quilt.

To make this quilt, you'll need:

PLEASE NOTE: that I will not be giving exact cutting directions of the fat eighths.  I always try to cut so that each time, I have as little waste as possible.  In the event that you cut extremely different than I cut, you may need extra fabric.  I wouldn't buy it to start but I'd be aware that it might be a possibility that you could need more.

40 fat eighths (that's one Flour Garden fat eighth bundle plus 7 fat eighths- you'll have leftovers but I like to have a little extra so I can use the colors that I'd like in each specific block.)
3 1/2 yards white background (I used Bella Solids Porcelain)
2 1/2 yards aqua fabric (this is for the sashing- I used Bella Solids Aqua)
3/4 yard binding
5 yards backing

The Odette Quilt measures 63 1/2" x 78 1/2".  This quilt is a really good time to try new blocks that you have made before.  It's very fun!  Some of the blocks are easy and some are rather challenging, which is a nice mix (if you ask me 😉 ).  If some of the blocks are too hard for you, you can repeat the easier ones or you can substitute any 12" block that you'd like!

I hope you'll join me in this fun sew along!

Just let me know if you have any other questions!

Talk to you soon,

Jessica
