Riley Blake Designs Blog Tour- Hocus Pocus

Hi, Everyone!  Today is my turn on the Riley Blake Designs Blog Tour for Hocus Pocus by Echo Park Paper Co.

When I saw this pretty Halloween line, I knew I wanted to make a quilt with it!  When I got it in the mail from Riley Blake, my newly 3 year old son saw it and claimed it 😂  For almost a week, he carried the stack of fabric around with him, flipping through each print, and naming what he saw.  He laid with it at nap time and on the couch, took it in his toy car, LOL!  Then I needed to start on the quilt and he cried when I cut into it!!

So, in addition to the quilt I have made here, I need to make him a quilt with this Hocus Pocus fabric ASAP.  I'm thinking just really big patchwork squares so he can see each of the prints and enjoy them.

For the quilt I made here, I decided on using 'Dancing Wreaths' by Sandy Gervais.  This quilt measures 76" x 76".  I made the outer border slightly bigger.  Before I started my scallop, mine measured 80" x 80".  I love making flying geese so this quilt was right up my alley.  I used fat quarters but the pattern calls for 2 jelly rolls so you can do it either way.

The pattern is gorgeous.  The fabric is stunning.  And, scalloping the edge of a quilt is one of my favorite things ever so I'm super excited with how this turned out.

For this quilt top, I used:
Hocus Pocus fat quarter bundle
Riley Blake Confetti Cotton in Riley White (SKU C120-RILEYWHITE) for the background
Riley Blake Swiss Dot Black (SKU C670-110 BLACK) for the backing
Riley Blake 1/8" Black Stripe (SKU C495-BLACK) for the binding

I also added in a few Riley Blake Basics to use in the flying geese blocks.  I used Crayola™ Kaleidoscope in Magic Mint (CR480-MAGICMINT) and Pouncy Purple (CR480-POUNCY) and Kisses in Orange (C210-ORANGE)

For the batting, I used:
Warm 100 (you can see more on this batting HERE -it is one of my favorite battings)

I used my Janome Continental M7 to sew and quilt this quilt.  The M7 is the best sewing machine that I've ever used!  It pieces and quilts like a dream!  To quilt this quilt, I did free motion swirls.

I hope you are all safe and well.  Take care!

Talk to you soon,

Jessica
