Savor the Season Quilt Along

Hello, Everyone!  Welcome to the information post for the Savor the Season Quilt Along!  I'm SO excited to share the details of this quilt along with you!  

Let me present the Savor the Season Quilt!  I am hosting a quilt along for my Savor the Season quilt pattern!  To make this pattern, you'll need a copy of my book Season to Taste: Quilts to Warm Your Home All Year Long.  If you don't already have it, you can get your copy of Season to Taste on Amazon, Martingale, and Fat Quarter Shop.  The rest of the details are below!

We will be making blocks from multiple quilts in my book and assembling them together to make this fun sampler!  I will give instructions on assembly here on my blog but you'll need the block patterns from the book to make the quilt.  I had the best time combining blocks and coming up with this quilt!  Savor the Season measures 72" x 72".  

I have decided to make my Savor the Season quilt using Strawberry Honey by Gracey Larson.  I love this beautiful collection of fabrics.  The line was originally due out in January but is now rescheduled to arrive in March so keep a look out for it!!

Week 1- April 2- Diamond in a square star blocks

Week 2-April 9- Double star blocks and Dutchman's puzzle block

Week 3- April 16- Small star blocks

Week 4- April 23- Strip blocks

Week 5- April 30- Geese blocks

Week 6- May 7- Assemble the quilt top

Here is what you need to make the Savor the Season Quilt-

Savor the Season Quilt: Materials Needed

A copy of Season to Taste: Quilts to Warm Your Home All Year Long

3 red fat quarters

3 pink fat quarters

3 aqua fat quarters

3 tangerine fat quarters

2 green fat quarters

3 1/2 yards white background

3/8 yard of tangerine print for border 2

1/2 yard red print for border 3

1 yard green print for border 4

7/8 yard aqua fabric for binding and border 1

4 1/2 yards backing fabric (43/44" width)

I named this quilt Savor the Season because I thought it was the perfect nod to my book and show how many quilts can be made for different seasons depending on what fabric you choose to use.  I chose to do my in a summer-y color scheme.  It reminds of watermelons, summer picnics, blue sky, and hot, lazy summer days.  There are so many other ways you can choose to go with this quilt though!  I was tempted by all of them- haha- but I don't think I'd be able to make 5 version at once!!

Here are some other color ideas to get your creativity flowing.  The fabric requirements for these versions may slightly differ based on how many colors you use and exactly how you want each block laid out but I think if you have about 15-18 fat quarters plus the border and background fabric listed above, you'll be ok.  Start with those basic fat quarter requirements and feel free to add more in if you'd like more colors in each block and if you'd like the borders to be different-

Let me just go over the basics of the quilt along with you before we begin.

-Every week during the quilt along, on Friday, I'll post the assignment for the week here on my blog.  If you want, you can subscribe to my blog and you'll get an email every time I post something new.  If you don't want to subscribe, you can still participate by just visiting my blog every Friday (around mid-morning) to read the newest post.  I try to have it up by 9am EST but occasionally it will be a little later.

-I'm happy to answer any questions that you have so please don't hesitate to ask in a comment or on Instagram.  However, just to be clear, I will not be posting the exact pattern here on my blog, you'll need my book to make this quilt.
