Free Tutorial: Junglemania Pillow

I'm sharing my next tutorial for Thermoweb today!  The tutorial is for a quilt panel appliqué.  In my project, I used Junglemania by Mia Charro for Blend Fabrics.  This line was really cute to work with!

I enjoyed making this immensely.  I used a few different techniques which really held my interest.  The appliqué is a piece of cake using Heat n Bond Lite.  Then I used hem tape to help secure the roses.  I also hand quilted accents around the roses and leaves and then hand quilted a grid on the whole pillow.

This tutorial would work for any small-ish quilt panel.  Can you imagine following the tutorial and using one of the panels in my Jolly Little Log Cabin blocks and making a Christmas version?  I'll have to do that at some point later this year :)

Go ready the full tutorial on their blog- HERE

Food Trucks Poolside Tote

I have been having fun lately making some small, relatively quick projects!  First I made hot pads and now I've made this large tote bag.  I have a bunch more little projects in the works so stay tuned :)

Tote bags are a weakness of mine.  I can't even have enough bags.  As soon as I make them or buy them, I fill them :)  So, I'm really glad that I made this pretty and big tote bag because now I can make more whenever I want...endless tote bag supply lol

To make this bag, I use Food Trucks by Jeannie Phan for Paintbrush Studio Fabrics.  This collection has really cute prints in it!!  I was immediately drawn to the ice cream and donut prints so I chose to work with them and I thought it was make the best summer pool bag!

Here are the prints in the line that I used-

Talk about cute!!
To make the bag, I used the Poolside Tote pattern from Noodlehead.  You can find it HERE.

Here is my caveat with making bags- I always find that the first time I make the pattern, I make a ton…

Flower Market Hot Pads

I recently had the pleasure of sewing with Flower Market by A Beautiful Mess for Paintbrush Studio Fabrics.  This collection is one of the most gorgeous ever!!  Both the colors and patterns in this line really speak to me.

I knew I wanted to make something that I'd use everyday with these beauties and I settled on potholders!  The ones I have now are in terrible shape so they definitely need to be replaced and also seeing these pretty fabrics in my kitchen everyday is really going to make me happy!
I used the pattern from Radiant Home Studio.  You can find it HERE.
Two exceptions, I did not add the hanging loop and I did not line the pocket with fabric.  I just made the pocket from batting and the front layer of fabric.

These were really fast to make and also fun!!  Also, they would make really great gifts so in addition to making more for my kitchen, I'll definitely be making some of these as gifts!

Moda Bake Shop- Summer 2019 Quilt Along- At the Seashore

Hi, Everyone!  Have you heard about the Moda Bake Shop Summer 2019 Quilt Along???  Mona Bake Shop runs a QAL every summer and it is so much FUN!!

Last summer was my first year as one of the designers and we made the most fantastic medallion quilt.  You can read about that HERE if you'd like.

This year our theme is 'At the Seashore' and it is going to be another fantastic QAL!

You can read the Introduction post and fabric requirements HERE

There is also another great post that tells you How To Quilt Along.  It even has a really fantastic printable where you can track everything about the quilt you are making during the QAL.  That post is HERE

The brings me to today!  Today, I am sharing a setting option called the Dunes Quilt Setting!
This setting is a very basic one with sashing and cornerstones.  It uses 20- 12″ blocks and finishes at 72" x 86".  You can choose to make 20 different blocks or you can make just a few and repeat them in the setting.

Free Accuquilt Tutorial: Bon Appétit Wall Decor

I recently got the Accuquilt GO! Fabric Cutter Starter Set and I have been loving it!  I did a review of the system here.  Accuquilt sent me their new GO! Fork-Knife-Spoon Limited Edition Die to make a project with and I came up with this Bon Appetite Wall Decor project.

I had a ton of fun making this project and I love how it turned out!  Its very easy to make with the Go! Fork, Knife, and Spoon Limited Edition Die.
You can find the full, free tutorial for this project on the Accuquilt Blog HERE.
Share what you made! Use the hashtags #accuquilt #jessicadayonpatterns and tag me so I can see your version @jessicadayon

Free Quilt Pattern: Camp Out Quilt

Today, I am excited to share the FREE Camp Out Quilt pattern!  I came up with this pattern a few months ago and really, really love it!  This quilt dreams summer to me.  I love the fabric (which is Garden Glory by Maja Runback for Paintbrush Studio Fabric and some Painter's Palette Solids by Paintbrush Studio Fabric).  I picked certain ones to get this color scheme which I adore.  I don't often put yellow with red and blue but I think I should because they are stunning together.

My favorite part of constructing this quilt is the star cornerstones!!  They are a little bit different to make but so, so easy once you get the hang of them.  If needed, I can absolutely do a video tutorial on how to make them so you can see the steps.  Let me know if you'd like to watch that.

As always, I've worked really hard to give you an easy-to-follow pattern.  This, and all of my patterns, include with step-by-step photos for making the quilt.  I hope you love this pattern as much as I d…

Moda Bake Shop Free Pattern: Caroling Quilt

Today I'm sharing another quilt on Moda Bake Shop!  It is part of their Christmas weekend and it is called Caroling.

First, my pattern- Jolly Little Log Cabins- was posted and that pattern showed how to use quilt panels in quilt blocks.

Next, a fellow baker, Alison Vermilya, shared her Christmas quilt pattern, called Christmas Churns.

And, third, I am back again sharing Caroling.  I made this quilt using Kringle & Claus by BasicGrey, which is a super cute Christmas line!

This pattern uses a layer cake (plus background and accent fabric).  I love layer cakes!  Sometimes, though, I have a tendency to hold on to them because I don’t know exactly what pattern to use for them.  Because of that, I am ALWAYS looking out for new layer cake patterns.  I often want to see how big I can make a quilt while only using one layer cake

Caroling is very simple and only uses one block (with the fabric laid out differently to make 2 blocks).  I find that I come back to this block over and over.  I r…
