McCall's Quick Quilts August/September 2019: Cross Stars Pattern

Image
Hi, Everyone!  I want to share with you a quilt I designed and made that is feature in the August/September 2019 Issue of McCall's Quick Quilts.
The pattern is called Crossed Stars.  And, this issue is now available on newsstands and you should be able to find it at a magazine retailer near you.  It is also available at Fat Quarter Shop- HERE.

For this quilt, I used Nova by Basics Grey.  I love this gorgeous line as soon as I saw it.  The colors are so pretty and the florals are amazing!!

Look at the floral backing 😍😍😍

If you make this quilt, I'd love to see your versions so tag me on Instagram with your progress pictures or finished pictures- @jessicadayon

Free Quilt Pattern: Dove Baby Quilt

Image
Today, I am excited to share the free Dove Baby Quilt pattern!

When I designed this quilt, I was looking to use solids.  I also knew that I wanted to make a twin quilt set where the bulk of the quilt design is the same except for one colored border that denotes the gender and a special gender specific backing for each.  So, I came up with this!

I've used the Paintbrush Studio Fabrics Painter's Palette solids to make the entire quilt top.  For the backings, I used two prints from Tiara by Barbara J Eikmeier.
For the baby boy quilt, I used this one-
For the baby girl quilt, I used this one-

As always, I've worked really hard to give you an easy-to-follow pattern.  This, and all of my patterns, include with step-by-step photos for making the quilt.  I hope you love this pattern as much as I do!

Christmas Napkins & Matching Tablecloth

Image
Christmas is my most favorite time of year.  When December comes around there is always so much I want to make and do and usually I cannot accomplish everything I want to.  Recently, I started a list of all of the holiday things I'd like to do...things are things I want to make to decorate my house, things I want to make and give as gifts, and other things that I want to become part of the traditions that I do with my children each year.  I'm hoping to work ahead on my list and make what I can early in the year so that December is a little less frantic with trying to get it all done.

Separately, my family has been trying to make less waste, reuse what we can, and use less plastic.  We really like using cloth napkins instead of paper.  We are far from perfect at this but we are trying.  So, in an effort to combine my "Christmas list" with my "less waste" goals, I made Christmas themed reusable cloth napkins!

Cloth napkins are really simple to make and they …
