Riley Blake Designs Project Tour- Jane Austen At Home

Image
Good Morning!  Today I'm sharing the project I made for the Riley Blake Designs Project Tour for Jane Austen At Home.  The fabrics in this beautiful, historic collection are reproductions after a coverlet that Jane, her sister, and their mother made.  There is also a print that has hand written music by Jane Austen, as well as passages from her personal letters.

When I received these fabrics, I found myself wanting to make some sewing trinkets that I would use regularly.  I decided on a needle book, a pouch to hold my supplies, and a basket to hold both the pouch and needle book.  I'm planning on keeping them on my sewing table so that I can always have easy access to them.

In the needle book, I made a scissor pocket, pages for all of my mostly commonly used needles, a spot for safety pins, and two pockets on the back page.  There is no pattern for this- I made it up as I went along.  I used 1" hexagons and EPP for the front cover.  On the i…

Good Morning!  Today I'm sharing the project I made for the Riley Blake Designs Project Tour for Liberty Fabric Winter Flower Show collection.  Literally everything that Liberty Fabrics comes up with is SO gorgeous!  Winter Flower Show is a stunning collection.  For this collection, Liberty Fabrics has reproduced some vintage floral designs but updated them in wintry colors to reflect the changing of the seasons.  Here is a look at the prints in the collection-

I chose to make a quilt I have been wanting to make for a while.  It's called Due South and you can find the pattern in the quilt book called Miss Rosie's Farmhouse Favorites.

As soon as I saw this fabric, I knew this quilt was what I wanted to make.  My mind has been very particular like that lately.  I look through quite a few quilt books and patterns pretty regularly and my mind files away the ones I want to make in the future.  Then, I find that when I see a grouping of fabric, my …

Hi, Everyone!  Today is my turn on the Riley Blake Designs Project Tour for Blessed Beyond Measure by Stacy West of Buttermilk Basin.

I love the all of fabric that Stacy West designs so I'm always excited to see each of her collections come out.
I decided to make something Christmasy with Blessed Beyond Measure by using the reds and creams from this collection and adding in a few things.
First, I added a green from Stacy's Buttermilk Basics Collection.  It's called C9186-GREEN.
Next, I added some of the Stacy West Wool (also from Riley Blake) in two greens and a red- W120-Forest, W120-Moss, and W120-Brick.
Last, a gold Texture by Sandy Gervais (C610-GOLD) for the cardinal beaks.

I made this cardinal quilt.  I used the pattern called Winterberry Cardinals by Cheryl Haynes.  I bough the PDF of it on Annie's Catalog- here.

For the batting, I used The Warm Company Warm & Plush- a big time favorite of mine.
I used my Janome Continental M7 to p…

New Quilting Book- Best of Moda Bake Shop & Pillow Pattern

Image
Hi, Everyone!  Moda Bake Shop has recently published another quilt pattern book and I had the pleasure of being one of the contributors!  Here is my author image from the book promotion!
This book is a fun collaboration that contains 15 quilt patterns- each one from a different designer- that all use precuts. This is what the cover of the book looks like- Here is the picture of the quilt that I contributed.  It is called 'Pinwheels'.  It uses a layer cake and yardage.  You can find all of the requirements in the book.  I used the very beautiful 'Goldenrod' by One Canoe Two to make the book sample quilt.

You can see the images of all of the quilts in the book on Martingale's website- HERE.On fun thing all of the contributors are doing is to celebrate the book launch is to share a pillow pattern that uses the block from our quilt in the book.  We are calling it a Pillow Parade.  It started on August 10th and goes until September 11th.
Today is my turn on the Pillow Parade…

Riley Blake Designs Project Tour- Give Thanks

Hi, Everyone!  Today is my turn on the Riley Blake Designs Project Tour for Give Thanks by Sandy Gervais.

This is such a beautiful autumn fabric collection.  I love every single print.  And, I was really excited to get to make a quilt with this.
At the beginning of the year, I asked all of my children what kind of quilt they would like this year.  My oldest daughter said a fall quilt for her bed :)  Well, this worked out perfectly and I can't wait to wash this quilt up and put it on her bed.
I'm going to buy some yardage of it an make matching pillow cases for her.  I think she will like that.  And, I'm thinking I should make a pumpkin throw pillow for her bed too!

I made the Four Square quilt by Missouri Star Quilt Company.  You can find the YouTube video for it- here.

This quilt was quick and fun to make!

For the backing, I used Riley Blake Designs Le Creme Swiss Dot Orange (SKU C600-60 ORANGE).

For the batting, I used The Warm Company Warm …
