Riley Blake Blog Tour- Crazy Quilt Papers

Hi, Everyone!  Today is my turn on the Riley Blake Designs Blog Tour for Lori Holt's Crazy Quilt Papers.

These fun papers come in two sizes- 5" and 10".  I used the 10" size with a layer cake of Vintage Happy 2 by Lori Holt.

Riley Blake has a really great tutorial on how to use these papers on their blog- HERE.

After I made my crazy squares (36 total) and trimmed them to 8 1/2" x 8 1/2".  I used the easy corner triangle method and sewed 3" solid white squares to each of the corners and that resulted in a crazy octagon shape.

Each block is 8" finished.  There are 3 borders- each measuring 2" finished.  The quilt measures 60 1/2" x 60 1/2".

For this quilt top, I used:
-1 pack of Lori Holt's Crazy Quilt Squares- 10" size
-1- 10" stacker of Vintage Happy 2 by Lori Holt
-2 yards white background (I used Confetti Cottons Vintage White- C120-VINTAGEWHITE)
(this will be cut into 12- 2 1/2" strips for borders 1 and 3 and 11- 3" x 42" strips, cross cut into 144- 3" x 3" squares for the easy corner triangles)
-1/2 yard print for the border (I used Vintage Happy 2 C9145-MULTI) (this will be cut into 6- 2 1/2" strips for border 2)
-5/8 yard binding (I used Vintage Happy 2 C9139-FROSTING) (this will be cut into 7- 2 1/2" strips)

For the backing, I used:
2 yards Bee Backings in Plaid Blue (WB6422-BLUE)

For the batting, I used:
Warm & Plush by The Warm Company (you can see more on this batting HERE- I love this batting so much!)

I used my Janome Memory Craft 6700P to sew and quilt this quilt.  I quilted it with a free motion stipple inside the crazy octagons and then big stitch hand quilted inside the diamonds and around the outside with Cotton Perle thread.

I love all of Lori Holt's fabrics and Vintage Happy 2 is so pretty.  I love how this quilt looks!  If you make one, share it on Instagram by tagging me @jessicadayon and using the hashtags #jessicadayonpatterns and #octagoncrazyquilt

Talk to you soon,

Jessica
