IF YOU ARE MAKING A PRINT A QUILT (shown below), here are your cutting instructions,

From the White fabric, cut:
     -4- 4.5" x WOF strips, subcut into 36- 4.5" squares
     -4- 4.5" x WOF strips, subcut into 64- 4.5" x 2.5" pieces
     -3- 5" x WOF strips, subcut into 18- 5" squares
     -2- 18.5" x WOF strips, subcut into 3- 18.5" squares,
use the remaining fabric from this step to cut 2- 9.5" squares

LAYER CAKE ONLY- If you are using 1 layer cake (42- 10" squares):
-take 16 layer cake squares and cut each one of those into- 2- 5" squares and 4- 2.5" x 4.5" pieces
-take 7 layer cake squares and cut each one into 4- 4.5" squares
-take 13 layer cake squares and cut each one into 4- 5" squares

CHARM PACKS ONLY- If you are using 4 charm packs (that's 4 packs of 5" squares, 42 squares in each pack):
-If you want your quilt to look more planned, I'd recommend you sort your charm packs by print before starting.  So I'd recommend you go ahead, open all of your charm packs, sort them out, and make one pile for each print in the packets.
-If you want you quilt to look very scrappy, you do not need to sort, you can just start pulling squares and cutting.  You can ignore my directions below about taking 4 of the same print squares, etc... and just make sure you are cutting an equal amount of squares in whatever prints you'd like.

-take 16 sets of 4 charm squares each, leave 2 as 5" squares and cut the other two into 4- 2.5" x 4.5" pieces
-take 25 charm squares and cut each one into 1- 4.5" squares
-set aside 50 charm squares (these are for HST and are supposed to measure 5" square)
