Block of the Week- The Odette Quilt- Week 3




Welcome to Week 3 of the Odette Quilt Block of the Week!

This week we are working on Blocks 5 and 6.  Let's go!



Odette Block 5



From the Yellow, cut:
     -1- 5 1/2” square, cut on both diagonals to yield 4 triangles

From the Navy Floral, cut:
     -2- 5 1/2” squares, each cut on both diagonals to yield 8 triangles

From the Gray, cut:
     -2- 5” squares

From the White Background, cut:
     -1- 4 1/2” squares
     -1- 5 1/2” square, cut on both diagonals to yield 4 triangles
     -2- 5” squares

1.  Use 2- 5” white and 2- 5” gray squares to make two at a time HST.  Trim each HST to 4.5” square.  You will end up with 4 HST total.

                                 Make 4 HSTs, 4 1/2" x 4 1/2", including the seam allowance

2.  Use the triangles cuts from the yellow, navy floral, and white to make a quarter square triangle (QST) as show below.  Trim each QST to 4.5” square.  You will end up with 4 QST total.

Make 4 QSTs, 4 1/2" x 4 1/2", including the seam allowance


3.  Lay the block pieces out as shown in the block picture above and sew the block together.

Make 1 block, 12 1/2" x 12 1/2", including the seam allowance






Odette Block 6



Download the templates for Block 6 HERE.  When you print the templates, make sure there is no scaling and that the 1" test blog actually measures 1".

From the Navy, cut:
     -1- 3 1/2" square

From the Gray, cut:
     -2- Template A's

From the Cream Floral, cut:
     -2- Template A's

From the White Background, cut:
     -4- Template B's


1.  Lay out the block pieces as shown.




2.  Sew a Gray A to a White Background B to a Cream Floral A (repeat once more so that you have two of these pieces).  Sew a White Background B to the Navy 3 1/2" square to a White Background B.




4.  Sew the top row to the middle row.



5.  Sew the bottom row to the upper portion to complete the block.

Make 1 block, 12 1/2" x 12 1/2", including the seam allowance
