Riley Blake Blog Tour- American Legacy

Hi, Everyone!  Today is my turn on the Riley Blake Designs Blog Tour for American Legacy by Dani Mogstad.

In 2018, Dani Mogstad released a collection called American Heritage and I loved it so much I bought some yardage but I didn't buy enough of it!  Now this gorgeous sister collection, American Legacy, is here and I'm so excited to buy some and make a few quilts with it!!

Today, I'll be sharing the first quilt that I made with it!

First, let's look at the prints in the line.  The line is made up of dark, rich reds, navy and medium blues, and creams.  I love the mix of prints too- florals, stars, a small quilty cheater print, bandana, and so on...

I designed this quilt pattern specifically with this line in mind.  Lately, that's been how it's working for me.  I see fabric swatches and then I'm inspired and I design based on the swatches.  I've been designing and making quilt patterns quicker than I can write the patterns.  So, this is on my list to write into pattern but I don't have it ready at the moment.

Let's look at the quilt!  It is called the Liberty Quilt.

I used the navy star print for the binding and I love how it finished this quilt off!

The top is made of almost all American Legacy fabrics (the creams in the line make really wonderful background fabric!!) with a little bit of Confetti Cottons in Riley White (C120-RILEYWHITE).

The backing is Riley Blake Wide Back Shades in Cream (WB200-CREAM).  I love wide backs so much!  It really nice not to have to piece the backing and just cut to size and get started on the quilting.

I thinking about what else I can make with this line now ?!  What would you make?

Talk to you soon,

Jessica
