2019 Year Long Project- February Update

February went by so quickly in my neck of the woods.  And, so far, March is shaping up to be the same way.  Last week I finished make my HST 16-patches for my year long project!

You can find my first post in this series here.
And, you can read my January update here.

At the end of February, I was able to make 13- 16 patches from my HST (which is the same number that I made in January).

So far then, I have a total of 26- 16 patches.  I knew it would happen of course, but it's funny to see the color variation from month to month so far.  My HST for February were mostly green, pink, and red.  That is because I was making a Christmas quilt, a watermelon quilt, and a Sweet Treat quilt.  March should be interesting too because I am working a bunch of quilts now that are all very different from each other.

During the month of March,

-save 3" squares from all of the quilts/projects that I'm making in March

-set aside cut-offs from flying geese (as long as they are big enough to get a 2.5" HST out of them)

-in free time, sew 2 at a time HST

-trim the HST to 2.5" square

At the end of March,

-finish making and trimming the HST from the month's fabric

-make 16 patches with the available HSTs

I'll do a check in at the end of March.  Meanwhile, if you are joining in, share your progress on Instagram at #2019yearlongproject and #jessicadayonpatterns

  1. I guess I should bail from this year long project because I was planning to do a different pattern- not a HST. Sorry. I misread the instructions. Your squares are beautiful!
