Here is the schedule we will follow during our quilt along.

Icicles Quilt Along
Week 2- November 12- Sew the dresden plates
Week 3- November 19- Appliqué the dresden plates
Week 4- November 26- Make the alternate blocks
Week 5- December 3- Make the setting triangles
Week 6- December 10- Make the corner triangles and assemble the top

This week, in week 2, we are sewing the dresden blades that we made in week 1 together into dresden plates.  Each dresden plate has 12 dresden blades.

Choose 12 dresden blades that you want in one dresden plate and lay them out to make sure that you like how they look together.

Then put two neighboring blades right side together, matching them up as exactly as possible.

Sew along one of the long, unfinished edges, back stitching at the beginning and end.

Open the two you sewed together so that right sides are facing up at you.

Place another blade, right sides together on top of one of the blades from your previous set.  Line up the long, unfinished edge of the new blade with the one in the previous set.  Sew along that long, unfinished edges, back stitching at the beginning and end.

Repeat this process using all of the blades that you have laid out for your dresden plate.

When you have sewn them all together, sew the first one, along its remaining unfinished edge, to the last one, along its remaining unfinished edge, to complete the circle.

Press the dresden plate from the back first.  Then flip it over and press from the front.  You have completed one dresden plate.

Repeat these steps and make a total of 16 dresden plates.  See you back here next week to move on with the next step of this process!!

You can the hashtags #iciclesquilt #seasontotastequiltbook and #jessicadayonpatterns to share your progress.  Happy sewing!
