This week we are beginning block making!!!  It's the week I've been waiting for!  I'm so excited to get started.

I'm going to share a photo tutorial for how to make one block.  Then you will follow that tutorial and make the correct number of blocks for this week based on the size quilt you are making.

To make one block, you will need to following:
     -1- 2.5" x 2.5" and 1- 2.5" x 4.5" Fabric A
     -1- 2.5" x 2.5" and 1- 2.5" x 4.5" Fabric B
     -1- 2.5" x 2.5" and 1- 2.5" x 4.5" Fabric C
     -1- 2.5" x 2.5" and 1- 2.5" x 4.5" Fabric D
     -4- 2.5" x 2.5" and 4- 2.5" x 4.5" Background

Draw a diagonal line from one corner to the other on each of the 2.5" squares.

Lay the background 2.5" squares on top of the 2.5" x 4.5" colored pieces, right sides together, lining up the 2.5" sides.  And, lay the 2.5" colored squares on top of the 2.5" x 4.5" background pieces, right sides together, lining up the 2.5" sides.  Make sure the diagonal lines are in the orientation as shown below (otherwise your pieces will turn out incorrectly).

Sew along each of the diagonal lines that you drew.

Line the ruler up with the 1/4" line of the ruler on the seam line that you just sewed.  Cut off the excess fabric.

Here is what it looks like cut.

Repeat with all of the pieces.

Press.

Lay the pieces out as shown below.

Sew the two coordinating pieces together along the 4.5" side.

Sew the top two squares together and then sew the bottom to squares together.

Now sew the two rectangles together.

That's it!  You've made one block.  The block should measure 8.5" x 8.5".

Now follow the tasks below each size and make the proper number of blocks this week based on the size quilt you are making.
